My Smashwords interview.

Interview with L.T. Marshall

Who are your favourite authors?
I don't really have a favourite or favourites as per say, I am a very eclectic reader and will read anything that sounds intriguing. Growing up I read a lot of Jackie Collins and Danielle steel and I think it somehow merged to make me a writer somewhere in between their styles.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
As a mum, artist and business owner then all of the above. And of course the need to write! I love to be organised and productive so pretty much will jump out of bed to continue with the previous days creations.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Crafting, housewife duties, making YouTube videos or socialising. I do a lot of events and shows connected to my business so I'm never bored anyway.
How do you discover the eBooks you read?
I like to go both on recommendations from friends and also sometimes I will just browse the blurbs on Amazon. Depending on my mood can sway which genre I look up. I also like to look at charity book shops and find pretty books for my own shelves, I like gorgeous covers for the artistic aspect.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I am releasing it in a couple of weeks, rewritten and much more polished. After a 20 year gap the book was one I always wanted to redo and so I have done. It's called Just Rose and is in the editing finalisation stage.
What is your writing process?
I am a speed writer, I will get a story in my head and mull it over for a few days or weeks, building the characters and plot in my mind before I sit down. Once I do I will rush write the whole book as fast as I can, I don't ponder mistakes, grammar etc or even much description and usually end up with the bare bones. I'll then go through it again slowly and pad it out, fix things and delete anything I am not happy with. I am a writer who goes through my book several times, each stage has a different purpose and I only worry about actual editing in the last passes.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes , it was Flowers in the Attic by Virginia Andrews, it pushed me to read the whole series and then her Heaven Leigh series too. I remember feeling so many emotions and knew this is what I wanted to do. Submerge people in a fantasy world where they can see and hear the characters and get lost from reality for a while.
How do you approach cover design?
I usually have the design in my head before I even write the book. I work backwards that way because I am an artist and designer, I tend to know exactly what I want from the characters I have built in my head and the tone or style I want the book to have. That way my books end up all completely different in look.
What are your five favourite books, and why?
This is going to sound lame..... I expect a lot of eye rolls. I love the Fifty shades books, because I think I have a weakness for torn, damaged heroes and heroins and liked that they were easy to read and get engrossed in. They were complete contrast to anything I normally read, but i found them enjoyable despite the writing style at times. I also love anything by Lauren Layne, she writes light hearted and fun novellas with really adorable characters.
What do you read for pleasure?
Usually Romance, chick lit or contemporary romance. I'm not one for too much erotica and I like a good story line that you can get invested in. I recently re-read a few Kat French summer books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use my iPad and phone for the Kindle app, most books I read that way but I still prefer paper books.
Describe your desk
I have two work spaces that I use for my writing and artistic business so my desk is a mash up of both, its stacked with trinkets and bright rainbow things, yet it's neat and tidy and has a lot of personal items surrounding my pc.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in several places in Scotland, due to a military upbringing that has us moving a lot. It made me more able to adapt and meet people. I think all the experiences it gave me helped me be a better story teller.

Just Rose is ready and out now!!

My book is finally finished and although it has not undergone it's master edit to catch minor flaws and grammar , it is ready for release and should be on Amazon within 72 hours!

I am excited to be able to share my newest work with you and hope you enjoy it as much as Carrero.

It seems like this book took an absolute eternity to get together and do the re-writes, after all it was a 20 year old manuscript and I have changed a lot in that time, the original is a far cry from what it is now and I am very proud of where it has gone in terms of improvement.

The book can be found here for UK - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071JKH7B5
and can be found here for USA - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JKH7B5
I really love feedback so feel free to leave comments or reviews on any of my social media.

Just Rose is not far away.

My newest book is not far away from release now. It's in final stages of editing and rewrites and literally so close to being out  woohoo. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be finally releasing a new book. This one has a special place in my heart, seeing as I originally write it over 20 years ago. It has underwent a lot of changes from the original and is such a great read. I know I am biased , but I really do love these characters.

Unlike Carrero, this is a stand alone book and more of a warm hearted romance. The characters are equally lovable and I really cannot wait to share it with you all.
Won't be long now and I shall announce an exact date soon.

My new release is around a month away.

That's right, my newest book Just Rose is in the rewrite and edit stages and we are looking to release in the early part of June. I am really excited to be releasing a new book and hope you all love it as much as the Carrero Trilogy. As soon as it's released on Amazon I shall be linking on all my social media so follow me for updates. All links can be found on your right!

This is the mock up of the cover and has not yet been completely finalised, it may change a little but overall this is how it will look. This is the chosen cover model for Rose and I am super duper happy with it.

Wondering what it's all about? Here's a brief synopsis.

Just Rose!

The unexpected death of Rose’s beloved Aunt ends up being a driving force in her uneventful life. She gives up her lonely unfulfilled big city existence for the country home and life from cherished childhood memories. Can it live up to them? All she wants is to find her place in the world, finally find the happiness and independence she has been searching for and hopefully this move will do it… hopefully.
With her little dog Muffin by her side and a much needed new friend in the form of Abby it does seem possible. That is until a not so ideal first encounter with the handsome local Laird of the Munro Estate sends her spiralling from young professional woman to hormonal bundle of goo. The chemistry undeniable but with him not seemingly on the market this might not be the place for her after all. Thrust into the world of not so quiet country living will Rose ever find true love?
A roller coaster of emotions and a whole lot of country charm there’s one thing for sure Rose is certainly not going to be bored anymore!

Book 1 free on smashwords

I have managed to upload book 1 onto smashwords entirely FREE, the reason being that it supports many formats and you should be able to get a copy in the format that you use most often. I hope to price match this once it goes live so Amazon will make it's kindle version free too.
In the meantime you can use the direct link to download while I await approval into the smashwords catalogue.

Revisions are done.

That's all 3 books been looked over, edited and re-uploaded to amazon. And I can announce that book 1 of the limited edition paperback is pending on amazon and should be available within 24 hours . Now that's something for me to be happy about. I am absolutely thrilled to be done with everything required of me and the Carrero Trilogy.
It's been an emotional ride and these books will always have the most special place in my heart, alongside Emma and Jake, but it's time to move forward.
This means I can finally move onto my next book which has been patiently waiting and finally have a new release.
I want to thank everyone who has been so patient, who read and loved the books, despite the mistakes and who have supported me along the way.
To a brighter future and many more books to follow!

Limited edition cover release

I am so happy to tell you that the new covers are being made available. The Carrero books had a little make over and one by one have been made ready to buy as paperbacks on Amazon. Book 1 is still undergoing minor tweaks and should be out there with the other 2 next week. In the meantime this is how the new ones look!

I am currently working on my new release, so keep a look out for my newest book .

A little fun and a cheeky update.

Sadly it has come to the time of year when I have to dedicate my time to my online business rather intensely for a few weeks, this means writing becomes at a standstill until the colder months move in. I do apologise to followers over my lack of blog posts but I have been seriously busy. I decided to make it up to you all with a fun little quiz which tests your Carrero fandom! Feel free to post shots of completed quizzes on my Facebook page :)
